Personal check-in: check in your whole family from your phone

When you tap your church's check-in tag with your own phone, Churchday recognizes you and your family, so checking everyone in takes one tap. There is no line to wait in and no form to fill out.

Before you begin

  • Use your own phone, not the church's shared check-in tablet. The personal flow only runs on a tap that opens the check-in link on your device.
  • Being signed in to your Churchday account is the surest way to be recognized. A phone you have checked in on before is also remembered, so it works either way.

Step-by-step

  1. Tap the check-in tag with your phone. Hold your phone near the church's check-in sticker, or scan its check-in QR code. Your personal check-in page opens in your browser.
  2. Let Churchday recognize you. It checks your signed-in account first, then the phone you are holding if you have checked in here before. The screen greets you by name and shows the service. Nothing is saved yet.
  3. Choose who is here. Your family is listed under Who is here? Everyone starts checked. Tap anyone who stayed home to remove their check mark.
  4. Tap Check in. While it saves, the screen says Confirming your check-in. The green checkmark appears once it is confirmed. If your church uses Smart check-in, the button reads Check in and continue and takes you on to the church's link afterwards.
  5. Changed your mind? Uncheck or re-check anyone and tap Update. A message confirms "Got it. We updated who's checked in."

Two events at once?

When two events are open, like the service and a newcomer lunch, the screen asks Which are you here for? Tap the one you're at: that tap checks in whoever is checked on the list. An event your household has already checked in to shows Checked in.

If you picked the wrong one, tap Wrong event? Undo under the checkmark. It removes this visit's check-ins and takes you back to the choice.

Wrong person on a shared phone?

If you are on a family or shared phone, Churchday may greet the last person who checked in on it. At the bottom of the welcome card, tap the Not [name]? link. That undoes check-ins created by this visit and opens the phone-number screen so the right person can check in. Attendance recorded earlier or confirmed by a greeter stays saved.

Good to know

  • Your phone is remembered. After a confirmed personal check-in, later taps can recognize you. If your phone asks again, use the ordinary phone-number lookup.
  • A failed change stays visible. Confirmed check-ins remain saved. Tap Retry to finish the remaining changes, or ask a greeter for help. If the service changed while the page was open, refresh and confirm the service shown.
  • Undo is available for 30 minutes. You can remove attendance created by this visit. If someone at the kids desk or a greeter has since confirmed it, ask them to make the correction.
  • Check-in keeps existing contact preferences. It does not change a returning person's name, phone number, email address, or message subscriptions.
  • Checking in before the day? If your church opened a service early, the page shows the service's date. Only you start checked. Tick anyone else who is coming, then tap Check in.
  • Already checked in? If a greeter or the kids desk checked you in, the page opens on your checkmark, with nothing more to do.
  • Just you? If no one else is in your household, there is no list: tap Check in and you're done.
  • Report an issue. Every screen has a Report an issue link at the bottom. It opens a short form with First name, Last name, Email, Phone number, and What's the issue?. Leave an email or phone so the team can reach you, then tap Send. Your note goes straight to the Churchday team.
