Editing your church profile in Settings

You set your church's basics when you first created it in the setup steps. When any of those details change, or you want to fine-tune them, the Settings > General page is where you edit them.

Before you begin

  • You need the Admin role to change these settings.

How this page works

The General page is a list of rows, not one long form. Each item, your logo, church name, location, public address, and timezone, sits on its own row. You edit one at a time, and each change saves on its own. There is no single "Save Changes" button for the whole page.

Step-by-step

  1. Go to Settings. Click Settings in the sidebar, then open the General tab.

  2. Update your logo. Click the logo area in the Logo row and choose an image. Use a square image, at least 200 x 200 pixels. It uploads and saves as soon as you pick the file.

  3. Edit your church name. In the Church name row, click the pencil icon. Type the new name in the pop-up window, then click Save. This name appears in your emails, on event pages, and on invoices.

  4. Set your location. In the Location row, click the pencil icon. Fill in your City, Street address, and ZIP / Postal code, then click Save. Your location shows on your public page and in the footer of every email your church sends.

  5. Change your public web address. In the Public URL row, click the pencil icon. Edit the part that comes after churchday.com/. It can only use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, and the field blocks anything else as you type. Click Save when you're happy with it.

  6. Set your timezone. In the Timezone row, click the pencil icon, then pick your church's timezone from the list. It saves the moment you select one. This timezone is used for event times and email send times.

Good to know

  • Changing your public web address affects old links. After you save a new address, links to your old churchday.com/ address keep redirecting for 90 days, then stop working. Re-share the new link with anyone who has the old one.
  • Timezone and logo save instantly. Church name, location, and public address save only when you click Save in their pop-up window, so you can back out before committing.
  • Event defaults have moved. Settings for new events, like default visibility, whether registration is required, and whether check-in is on, are no longer on this page. You'll now find them under the Events tab (open the gear icon in the top right). See Set default settings for new events.
  • You can change any of these settings at any time.
