Find and Join Groups

Groups are the communities you belong to at church, like a Bible study or a young adults group. Each group has its own page where you can join, see who's in it, and find its events.

Finding groups

From your church's page. Tap Groups in the bar at the bottom of your phone, or click the Groups button on a computer. You see Your groups first, then the other groups you can join.
From a link. A group leader may send you a link to the group's page. Open it and sign in if you're asked to.

The Groups tab shows for church members when there are groups to find, and for anyone who's already in one of the church's groups.

Joining a group

Open the group's page. Tap the group in the list, or open the link you were sent.
Tap the main button. What it says depends on the group:
- Join group puts you in right away.
- Request to join sends your request to the group's admins. You see "Request sent" and get an email when they answer. Changed your mind? Tap Cancel request.
- Become a member means the group is for church members. Become a member first, then come back to join.
You're in. The page now shows the group's events and who's in it.

Accepting an invitation

If a group admin invites you by email, open the link in the email and tap Accept invitation. Invitations let you join without waiting for approval. They expire after 14 days, so ask the group admin for a new one if yours has run out.

If you're invited to help run the group, the page says You've been invited to be a group admin. Accepting makes you a group admin.

Leaving a group

Open the group's page.
Tap the options button next to the main button, then tap Leave group.
Tap Leave to confirm. You stop seeing the group's people and events.

Good to know

Only people in a group see who else is in it. Names show for people who have set their name on Churchday. Your email and phone number are only visible to the group's admins and church staff.
Some groups are private. A private group may show only its name and description until you're in it, and some private groups aren't listed at all. You join those by invitation.
Waiting on a request? The group shows under Your groups marked Requested. If it isn't approved, you can ask again later.
Your home page shows the church. If you're in a group at a church where you aren't a member, that church appears under Your church on your home page, marked "In 1 group." Tap it to get to the church and its groups.
