Following an automation

Once an automation is on, you can see exactly who it has reached and where each person is. Open the automation and use the tabs at the top: Build, People, and Activity.

The counts

At the top of an automation, once anyone has entered, you'll see:

  • Entered: everyone the automation has ever started for.
  • In progress: people still waiting on a step.
  • Completed: people who went through every step.
  • Ended early: people who left before the last step.
  • Needs attention: people for whom a step could not finish.

Each step card also shows its own numbers, such as how many texts it has sent, how many people are waiting on it, and how many it skipped.

The People tab

People lists everyone who entered, with when they entered and their status. Filter with All, In progress, Completed, Ended early, or Needs attention. Tap a name to open that person's activity on their profile, which shows the messages the automation sent them.

Someone ends early when:

  • they matched one of your exit rules;
  • they no longer matched the automation's filters;
  • their record was removed or merged with another;
  • a staff member used Stop everyone now.

The Activity tab

Activity is the automation's saved history: every version, who changed it, when, and what the trigger and steps looked like at the time. Use it to check what an automation was doing on a given day, or to see what a teammate changed.

Good to know

  • Needs attention means a step could not finish, for example a text that couldn't be sent or one that waited too long because your church had no text number yet. Churchday doesn't send that step again on its own. Fix the cause, such as adding a number or correcting the message, so future people get through.
  • A text that comes due outside 9am to 8pm in your church's time zone shows as waiting on its step until the morning.
  • Off with people still in progress means the automation is letting them finish before it fully stops.
